"Peak Imaging is a company that takes packaging seriously. The work was returned in three days encased in a print bag secured with brown tape and cardboard. This heavyweight wrapping was difficult to remove but it will certainly help avoid any harm to the contents.

"The quality of printing was excellent. Colours were strong and vibrant and skin tones well reproduced, so our model looked healthy and natural. Whites were bright, blacks rich and the spotless pin sharp prints were among the best in the test.

"Colab is one of the largest pro labs that offers a mail order service or over-the-counter service through its' branches in the Midlands. We opted for the Colab Pro-Am service by post and the turnaround time was very fast.

"Despite the company's good reputation, our finished prints were not very impressive. They were printed too dark, making colours look too saturated and skin tones unattractive. Contrast was also too high, blocking shadow details. The negs looked fine, however.

"This lab was the slowest to return the processed film, taking eight days from posting to return delivery. Results were slightly dark but colours were accurate and skin tones pleasing. Colour saturation was good, without being over the top.

"Our prints were clean, sharp and well presented. Flesh tones did vary slightly between prints but exposure variations with our bracketed shots were also handled well.

"The return packaging was very good; with an index print included in a packaging box, plus order form and labels to return films. But there was no price list."

Quality also proved to be impressive, with well-printed bright and clean prints. Every frame was accurately corrected, with skin tones looking good with a slight pinkish cast.
