Peak
have been producing top quality photographic prints for photographers
for the past 22 years. We have skilled staff and the finest equipment
to help achieve the very best results. Now, using the latest photo-digital
printers from Fuji and Durst we can produce professional colour prints
faster, at cost effective prices.
Negatives
and transparencies are digitally scanned and printed on to continuous
tone photographic paper using RGB lasers. This produces a higher quality
print fully optimised for colour and density. Contrast is better controlled
with greater detail in the shadow and highlight areas, especially important
when printing from transparencies. Check it out - you'll see the difference!
We can work from any size original from 35mm to 5x4, negative or transparency,
in colour or black & white. Prints can be produced on gloss or satin
matt surface paper.

We
offer three different printing services from negatives. Standard Fixed
Format prints, Selective Fixed Format prints and our premier service,
Custom Made prints.
Depending
on the required service all negatives entering the laboratory are digitally
scanned using Fuji or Imacon high-resolution scanners. The print information
is then passed over our network to either Fuji or Durst Photo-digital
printers. Unlike mail order d&p services and high street minilabs
each print is individually assessed, graded and reprinted if necessary.

Colour
prints from transparencies have up until recently been produced in one
of two ways. The traditional way is to make a special negative (termed
an internegative) from the transparency and then print the internegative
on conventional colour paper. The second method is to produce colour prints
direct from transparencies using special paper and the R3 process. The
R3 process eliminated the need for an internegative to be made.
There were pros and cons using either of these techniques. Internegatives
handled flesh tones well and offered better control over contrast. The
down side was the extra time incurred and cost. R3 reversal prints were
inexpensive and produce results quicker, however the process did not handle
high contract subjects well.
Our
photo-digital printers overcome all of the problems illustrated above and
most prints up to 40" x 30" are now made using our digital printers.
In this process your transparency is scanned at high resolution and
then written to conventional colour paper using RGB lasers. The results
are superb.

Most
of our customers appreciate that a rectangular print ordered from a square
original will produce a print with either borders or severe cropping of
the image. It is important to remember however that even rectangular negatives,
specifically 35mm will produce prints with substantial cropping when printed
to some industry standard sizes such as 5x4 and 10x8. Please bear this in
mind when ordering. The following guide will be of help.
If
you require us to produce a print with cropping, please indicate which part
of the image is to be cropped. |
