Selective CD Archiving - from 120 & 35mm negatives and transparencies

As well as scanning complete films to CD at the time of processing (see here), we also offer a cost-effective 35mm / 120 archiving service, scanning individual frames to make better use of the data storage available. Rather than just scanning a full film, complete with spoiled shots and duplicate images, this service offers the opportunity to scan just your favourite images to CD. The high-quality, high-resolution JPEG files produced open out to approximately 25 MB, and are ideal for archive purposes or detailed computer manipulation using Adobe Photoshop and similar image-editing programs. The CD is suitable for both PC and Apple Mac, and comes with an index print for easy identification. Note that if we are from a mix of cut film and mounted slides we cannot write them to CD in any specific order.

Custom Scanning - from artwork, prints, negatives, transparencies

We offer a complete professional-level scanning service for the photographer, and can produce high-resolution image files for output to film, print or CD. We can scan artwork and photographic prints up to A3, and both negatives and transparencies from 35mm to 10 x 8.

All custom scanned images are supplied as TIFF files. Ideally, these high-quality scans should be produced with the final image size and output device in mind.

We are more than happy to advise customers on all aspects of our scanning service and produce scans to specification. Please don't hesitate to contact our Digital Imaging department if you require further technical help or information.

Image Manipulation

Almost certainly the greatest strength of digital imaging is the ability to manipulate images from negatives, transparencies or digital files. We can make the improbable possible and put the irretrievable within reach. Old, damaged photographs can be scanned, computer-enhanced and restored, objects and people moved, removed or replaced and text and graphics can be added.

We have a three-tier range of standard charges to cover tasks from colour correction and scratch removal to replacing backgrounds and object removal, as illustrated below.

All prices quoted include scanning to professional quality TIFF files up to 25 MB, but do not include prints. For print prices, see here.

We strongly recommend that you take up the option of placing the finished manipulated image onto CD-ROM. This will enable you to order reprints of the image without having to pay for the manipulation
work again.

Custom Manipulation

Not every manipulation requirement falls easily into one of the three tiers outlined above. Photographic montages, for instance, demand a considerable amount of time and effort to piece together into one seamless image. For requirements such as these we will provide a quotation on sight of work, and will carry out the task, if feasible, at a charge of £25.69 per hour. POLO (Peak On-Line Order system)

How it works

Submit your films for a standard process and print package in the normal way. We process and print the film and store the images free of charge on our servers. If you work primarily with digital images, thumbnail images are created and uploaded directly by the user. The high resolution images are then submitted on CD/DVD and stored on our servers.

Log into your secure website to view, edit or delete images before giving access to your customer. You set your own resale prices and choose a layout for the customer to order on-line. Send an email with password to your customer granting access.

Your customers can view and order prints via the internet quickly, easily and securely, wherever they are in the world.

POLO puts all this publishing power literally at your fingertips! You are relieved of all the chores normally associated with presentation, storage, order taking, accounting and delivery. What's more, because your high resolution files are stored on our secure servers, your images are absolutely safe. You - and only you control access to your pictures.

Costs

For up to 2,500 images on-line, the cost is £31.63 per month, up to 25,000 images is just £57.50 per month!
